We offer so many different classes in areas of classic stained glass crafting, instruction in glass fusing, jewelry making, silver clay, design, and glass painting that it may be easier for you to filter the list of classes. Choose what kinds of classes you want to see details on by selecting a filter link at the left side of the page.

Pricing and schedules are subject to change. Advance registration and tuition is required to hold your place in class. Deposits can be refunded or applied to another class up to 10 business days before start of the class. Less than 10 days before start of the class, deposits are non-transferrable and non-refundable.

Kid Friendly Class Some of our classes are available for children from the ages of 7 to 12. Please call us to make sure a class is suitable for your child.

Description

Art Walk Summer Camp ($300.00)

This is a all day summer camp for kids and adults. You will work with 5 different artists in different mediums for a wide range of exposure. There will be glass fusing, print making, jewelry, clay, sculpture, pottery painting, and sewing/quilting. You may even use projects made in one class to be incorporated into another. Participating artist: Sona Knox - Art House, Lynne Hubner - Art House, Judi Siebold - Walls of Clay, Laura Kay Houser - Happiness is quilting, and yours truly - Stained Glass of McKinney. Tuition includes all supplies and materials.

Fun with Fusing (10.00)

No experience necessary!! Come in anytime and try it out. We have several projects that you can choose from - or you can make your own design. Fired projects will be ready within 2 weeks. Supplies not included.

Gold Leafing on Carved Glass ($95.00)

In this class, you will learn how to use the Color Magic Glass Paints with Gold Leaf on a carved piece of glass. You will select a pre-made carving, paint the design with Color Magic and layer Gold Leaf on the back side. The results are wonderful and very colorful. This technique can be used on any sandblasted glass piece.

Lamp Making Seminar ($50.00)

This seminiar consists of a series of demonstrations and displays to build copper foil panel and Tiffany style lamp shades. Techniques discussed are vellum patterns, jigs, foiling, flux, soldering, vase caps, spiders, lamp components, and more. Special topic is a MS Excel algorithm that can custom design panel lamp dimensions. Attendees will not build a lamp in class. Attendees will be given a CD (pdf and MS Excel)that includes the seminar topics. 2 hours - longer if necessary.

Interested in stained glass but afraid to make the make the investment in tools and lessons until you're sure its the hobby for you? In this 3 hour workshop you will be introduced to the tools and techniques you will need to build your own small piece. Great group event - like Girls night out, etc.

Mosaics and Stepping Stones (25.)

This is your chance to use up all of that scrap glass that you have - or a chance to learn how to use glass scaps to decorate stepping stones, table bases, you name it. It all looks better with glass. :)

Beginning Copper Foil Class ($75.00 )

In this class, you will fabricate a stained glass panel using the (Tiffany) copper foil method. We will cover glass selection, glass cutting, fitting glass pieces to the pattern, foiling, soldering, and framing.

Work with 3-dimensional projects such as boxes, whirls, and kaleidoscopes! Maybe even incorporating some slumped or fused pieces in your stained glass panel.

Decorative Soldering - Seams and Borders ($40.00)

In this decorative soldering class, you will learn 8 different decorative soldering techniques to dress up you glass projects. You will need to bring eight 1" x 5" strips, foiled and ready to solder to class. We will be working with the different types of solder and soldering iron temperature controllers. Supplies are not included, but are available to purchase.

Decorative Soldering - sculptures, foil, and freeform (40.00)

In this workshop, you will learn how to work with the solder to form lacy patterns, tool copperfoil and use it in a project, and how to create molds and melt solder into them for use in projects. Supplies are not included.

Lead Came Construction. ($75.00 )

In this class, you will fabricate a stained glass panel using lead came. We will cover the basics of panel construction with emphasis on cutting and fitting lead came around glass pieces, soldering lead joints, glazing, polishing, and burnishing the lead.

Contemporary Glass Painting with Liquid Enamels, Frits, and Powders ($125.00 )

In this class you will learn to paint on the glass with wet enamels, frits and powders, create stencils, and how to fire your finished project in the kiln. This enameling class involves hand-decorating glass surfaces with vibrantly colored liquid enamel paints, frits and powders. You will make at least 2 projects, one painted, and one with frits and powders. "Glass enameling is achieved through the transformation of glass granules fusing into glorious pools of color" - Kay Bain Weiner.

Intro to Jewelry Fusing ($95.00 )

4 hour workshop. This class covers basic glass cutting, glass compatibility, basic fusing principles and kiln safety. In this class you will complete a couple of pieces of jewelry that can be completed in one firing. Tool use and supplies included.

4 hour workshop. This class covers intermediate fusing techinques for jewelry. Some of the items covered will include multiple layers of glass and creating chain space with different types of media. Tool use and supplies included.

Two 4 hour sessions. This class will cover advanced fused jewelry requiring multiple firings and cold work. You will create a scarab pendant and a cold shaped fused pendent. Tool use and supplies included.

Kaiser Lee Board - An Introduction ($35.00)

In this 3 hour workshop, you will learn about Kaiser Lee Board for fusing and it's many different uses. You will make a flat fused project in this class using the Kaiser Lee Board. Supplies not included, but will be available to purchase.

Kaiser Lee Board - Project 2 ($35.00)

In this workshop, you will use the Kaiser Lee Board to create 3 unusual molds with 1 square foot of KLB. You will then create 3 glass projects to fire on the molds that you have created. Project 1 is a big plate mold, project 2 is a medium sized plate mod, and project 3 is a small dish from the last cut out. Kaiser Lee Board is a very versatile product that is used with glass fusing. This is a series of workshops designed to expand your working knowledge of KLB. You are not required to take each - just take the ones you want to. Supplies are not included. Supplies will be available for purchase.

Kaiser Lee Board - Project 4 ($35.00)

In this workshop, you will combine 2 molds from the previous session to fuse a 2" deep bowl. You will also create a piece to be fired in a 7" deep slump. In these series of workshops, you will build on knowledge and previous mold making techniques to experience the versatility of the Kaiser Lee Board. Supplies not included, but will be available for purchase.

Kasier Lee Board - Project 5 ($35.)

In this workshop, you will create a smaller mold from KLB to be used to make a deep slumped vase. In the second project, you will use a big mold as a dam to create a thick 3D fused glass piece. Supplies are not included, but will be available for purchase.

In this workshop, you will carv the KLB board to made creatures, figurines, or abstract shapes. You will then make parts to change the creatures from flat to standing pieces. Supplies are not included, but will be available for purchase.

Learn the basics of glass fusing and slumping with a kiln, plus details about compatibility, troubleshooting, and finishing. Students will make plates, bowls and more in this class. This 2-day class is given only on weekends.

Learn the Basics - Silver Art Clay ($250.00 )

Instructor: Sallie Bly. In this class you will learn how to work with the metal clay paste, syringe, and clay. You will learn the techniques to make several projects. There are $250 worth of supplies and tools (yours to keep) that are included in the price of the class that will be used to complete the projects. There is more than enough silver clay to complete your projects and some to take home and make more!! This class definitely has the WOW factor.
